Introducing MAP™

There are various methods for additively creating parts, all of known as additive manufacturing or 3D printing. What is common with these processes is that they are building three dimensional objects layer by layer, one on top of the other, resulting in an utterly slow process.

3D printing technologies have not fundamentally improved since their inception in the early nineties. Productivity of 3D production systems are far too low to be able to live up to the promise of 3D printing disrupting the image how we perceive traditional manufacturing.

MAP technology addresses this by rethinking the fundamental concept of 3D printing. Part growing with MAP leads to high productivity.

Technology

Today’s 3D printing technologies have at least two things in common:

Creation of a pyhisical geometry is done by building material layer-by-layer on top of eachother.

2.

This building process is carried out in one direction using a build plane as a basis.

WHAT IF MULTIPLE DIRECTIONS WERE USED
TO CREATE A 3D GEOMETRY?

Using multiple build directions MAP technology can achieve unparalleled print speeds without any limitations on the 3D geometry being built.

Grant3D

The first 3D printer to use MAP technology for part creation is developed in cooperation between Grante Corp and DO3D Innovations. Their Grant3D industrial 3D printer is a professional FDM system that is designed to produce sizable parts over 200% faster than any printers today, without the heavy limitations of print geometry. HOW IS MULTI-DIRECTIONAL PRINTING POSSIBLE?

We were asking the same question from ourselfes in the last couple of years. By rethinking the basic concept of creating physical 3D geometries we found the answers we were looking for. Now that we managed to prove our concept with a working prototype it became a patent pending method and therefore we can confidently say that it is possible.

WHAT IS THE CORE BENEFIT OF MAP?

It is a completely new approach, enabling extremly fast printing speed. It can be applied to other additive manufacturing technologies (e.g. SLS, SLA, DLMS) and it's core principles allow printing with multiple materials including solid and liquid.

WHAT DEVELOPMENT STAGE IS THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY IN?

Altough MAP is not restricted to filament based 3d printing, the first 3D printer utilizing MAP is an FDM machine called Grant3D. Grant3D is not yet a 3D printer in production at the moment, information on commercial availability will be announced later in 2021.
